Content Creator Spotlight: Colorado Photographer Discovers Brinno Cameras!

When we first noticed photographer Michael Lohr it was through a series of videos he had created as a user of Brinno Cameras.

It was immediately clear that there was something special about the content he was creating.

Smart, imaginative and the man really had a way with clouds (his nick name is now the cloud whisperer.)

Fast forward to a couple of years later and we have some of the most interesting content ever created with our cameras.  He has combined time-lapse, stop motion video, created awesome content with the ART200 Panlapse Base, made construction videos, travel clips with the TLC120 and even built a barn.

There is nothing this man can’t do (and hasn’t tried) with our cameras. He even was invited by The Weather Network to storm chase with their team for a two week stretch!

It seems fitting that our Content Creator Spotlight this month showcases the talents of Michael Lohr.

The ART200 Panlapse Base Rotating Camera Base has been a worldwide success and we are so glad you have embraced our ‘Brilliant Innovation.’ The Brinno Pan Lapse is a Bluetooth (BLE 4.0) rotating camera stand, that allows you to take smooth sweeping video or amazing panning timelapse videos with your Brinno camera, mirrorless camera or smartphone or GoPro. Just Pan-and-Shoot, It’s that easy! Photographers will appreciate the smooth panning as seen in this video.

PHV WiFi is almost here!!

A prototype was on-site for a fully functional demo at both CES2016 and IBS2016!

The PHV Wi-Fi allows users to see who is at the door on their phone or mobile device via an app. Someone comes to the door and a push notification with the visitor’s image appears in the app whether the user is at home, the store or on vacation. Images are also stored within the viewer and a live picture is displayed for close proximity viewing.

The PHV Wi-Fi is revolutionary within the security industry as it uses the existing peephole with no external sensors. While we do have existing Peephole Viewers, the addition of a WiFi enabled camera offers one more solution in Home Security.

Now in case you are wondering what a PeepHole viewer is… The PeepHole Viewer uses an LCD Panel to display who is at your door. It turns a hard to see PeepHole image into a big bright image. It doesn’t replace the optic peephole, but it upgrades the traditional to a digital PeepHole Viewer!

Brinno News! April 29th, 2014

Introducing our latest release, the Brinno PHVMAC12 the third generation Brinno Peephole Viewer/Camera, which has raised the bar again on basic front door security.

The greatest improvements are:

1) Through the peephole motion detection
2) Time and date stamped Video option
3) 9,000 triggers of battery life.

By detecting motion through the peephole, and recording whomever approaches the door, there is nothing on the outside of the door to indicate that the Peephole is now a motion activated camera, so no one is going to damage it or cover it up, like they might if they noticed a motion detection unit outside the door.

Automatically storing time and date stamped photos or videos give you a video log of any and all visitors, whether or not you are home, which can be played back on the display with the push of a button.  9,000 triggers is a lot of visitors, and more than three times the battery life of earlier versions.  If you were to receive 10 visitors a day, the batteries would last over 6 months.

As usual, the camera is simple to install and operate, and like all Brinno Products,  available at B & H Photo Video.

A note from Chris Adams, US Distributor of Brinno Products.

“Five years ago Brinno released the first Digital Peephole Viewer the PHV1325.   Prior to its release, the only option for people was a standard security camera above the door, which needed to be part of a $1,000 system, or some $500.00 door video call box with a display which both needed external power.  Now, for the first time there was a battery operated solution below $150.00 that was easy to install and operate.

This must have touched a nerve because copy products by the hundreds showed up, most of them out of Shenzhen, China.  I was living there at the time, so I saw many of them up close.  Of course, the defining difference between all these products and Brinno, was that Brinno actually used the peephole lenses and used software to flatten the fish eye effect you get with peepholes.

All of the pretenders placed cameras on the outside of the peephole and ran cables back to the display inside the door.  Hard to install and flaky at best.  Within a few months, 90% of these products were off the market, and the Shenzhen companies were copying something new and Brinno was busy designing the next version, and expanding its distribution worldwide.

The release of the third generation of the product, the Brinno PHVMAC reminded me that reinvesting in the technology and developing better products is critical to success as is expanding distribution.   However, in retrospect, perhaps the most important decision we made was to not panic, and try to drop our price to match these “pretender products”, but keep to our plan and sell on better quality and better functionality, and better service.

Five years later the competitive landscape is littered with the “pretenders” and Brinno now sells three versions worldwide. ”

The ALL NEW Brinno Blog

There are so many new things going on at Brinno and now you, the fans, will have a place to find out about new products, solutions and all of our exciting “Brilliant Innovations.”

The first announcement today is for our US based users. Josh Banks is the Nation’s first Brinno Authorized Solutions Provider. Josh via his website BanksPhotos can assist you with any aspect of your Brinno time lapse experience. From initial purchase recommendations and mounting suggestions to editing your time lapse into a polished video. To quote him, “Back in 2013 I was looking for a time lapse solution to record the video above. I checked out service providers, different camera systems, even explored developing my own system. Everything changed when I came across Brinno, I ordered a camera and weatherproof housing from Amazon and achieved the above result. Come to find out, this video was one of the first very long duration time lapse videos edited into a good presentation and posted for public viewing. Brinno contacted me for more information regarding my implementation of their camera and that is where my relationship with Brinno began. Now, I use five Brinno cameras the TLC 200 PRO and f 1.2, most are positioned on long term job sites with one reserved for shorter duration shooting.

TLC200Pro-B_05

Brinno’ TLC200 camera family were designed with the capture of construction projects in mind. Long battery life is one of the primary features of all three of the cameras, and when the cameras have to last months in the field, this becomes critical.   Being battery based, allows the customer to locate the cameras where needed at any time, which is critical to getting creative and detailed videos.  The TLC200 f1.2 is part of the BCC100 kit, while many customers opt for the TLC200 PRO with its HDR ( High Dynamic Range ) enabled, exceptional low light performance.  Whichever Brinno camera you choose, rest assured you can produce high quality videos.
