When we first noticed photographer Michael Lohr it was through a series of videos he had created as a user of Brinno Cameras.
It was immediately clear that there was something special about the content he was creating.
Smart, imaginative and the man really had a way with clouds (his nick name is now the cloud whisperer.)
Fast forward to a couple of years later and we have some of the most interesting content ever created with our cameras. He has combined time-lapse, stop motion video, created awesome content with the ART200 Panlapse Base, made construction videos, travel clips with the TLC120 and even built a barn.
There is nothing this man can’t do (and hasn’t tried) with our cameras. He even was invited by The Weather Network to storm chase with their team for a two week stretch!
It seems fitting that our Content Creator Spotlight this month showcases the talents of Michael Lohr.

1) What is the appeal of time-lapse for you and your clients? A time-lapse is an interesting, fast way to see a change in something, in real time either in construction or movement. In modern cities and in modern time things happen quickly. Modern people like to see what they want to see. They don’t have the time or patience to see long videos. In a time-lapse you can see a building being constructed, the growth of a plant or flower, the movement of the clouds, any process that takes hours you can see it in minutes. Time-lapse is also useful in editing or transition in a video.
Recently Brinno’s Time Lapse Cameras have been gaining recognition and popularity among film industry professionals. San Andreas is a 2015 American disaster film directed by Brad Peyton. It has a great cast and outstanding special effects. The photographer, Jacinta Leong, found an incredible opportunity to document her work by using the Brinno BCC200 as well as sharing it with the world.
Jacinta Leong is a freelancing feature film art director. In addition, she is known for such films as ‘The Matrix’, ‘Star Wars Movies’, ‘The Great Gatsby’, and of course ‘San Andreas’. She filmed the “San Andreas Movie – Set Construction Time Lapse” for documentation of her crew’s beautifully done creation and bring it on YouTube.
CES is definitely one of the top trade shows around the world. Tens of thousands of people were visiting Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, a mega-meeting of gadget makers from across the world. RICOH’s (The Ricoh Company, Ltd. is a Japanese multinational imaging and electronics company.) marketing team found a great opportunity to analyze their customers’ interest. To ensure they record the best possible data and make every penny worth, they set up (images below) more than five Brinno’s cameras in a different angle to help them record and analyze the product that draws attention the most. Our time-lapse technology focused on long battery life, power saving, simple time-lapse solution, and most importantly user-friendly for your company to study your market trends.
The MAC200DN has up to months of battery life. Turn on the motion sensor helps eliminate the unhelpful data. The front monitor allows you to access camera’s settings without breaking anything.
From January 5th-8th we all spent our days in the Las Vegas Convention Center meeting with customers, giving interviews, talking to retailers and to anyone who has heard (or never heard of) Brinno time-lapse cameras.
There was a lot of explaining what the cameras do, demonstrations, and business deals done.
The Consumer Electronics Show is an annual event in Las Vegas that brings together the world of tech, startups and anything you can think of that is futuristic including drones, 8K Televisions, 3D Printing, Health, Appliances absolutely everything along with hundreds of thousands of people.
This is the event that retailers and consumers look forward to because it anticipates what the public will want in the future. Brinno, as a company has been attending this show for many years and it is one of the highlights of the year for tech companies eager to announce new products to consumers.
This year the big focus by us was on our Construction Camera bundles, the BCC100 and BCC200.
The BCC100 has excellent battery life and is well suited for long-term outdoor projects, comes with waterproof housing and a sturdy clamp.
The BCC200 is for some one (or professionals) that want to take their projects to the next level. It also comes with weather proof housing, excellent outdoors with outstanding low light resolution. It also comes with a clamp that any photo enthusiast would love to get their hands on! This camera is currently the #1 choice for commercial videographers in the construction industry. No battery life on any camera (with this price point) even comes close.
The video above from Abavala is just one of the many clips we will be sharing with you in the near future!
